SCOTT McMillin Advances McMillin Racing’s QUEST for BITD Truck Championship DRIVING to 2nd Place At
BITD Silver State 300 Race

San Diego, California (September 28, 2009) Off road racing champion, Scott McMillin, and his daughter, Jessica McMillin, took the reigns of the #31 McMillin Realty Trophy Truck at the start line of the Best in the Desert’s BILEK Silver State 300 and never looked back.

Racing across the barren Nevada desert and crossing through the foothills outside Caliente, Nevada, the multi-race winning off road racer was all business as he criss-crossed Nevada’s desert in search of the BITD Trick Truck Championship. By the end of the day, Scott McMillin drove the McMillin Realty sponsored Geiser-built race truck to a dominating second place among the Unlimited Truck class and 5th overall. With a single race left in the 2009 BITD Silver State Series, McMillin Racing is poised to capture the season championship in December.

The successful San Diego business executive soloed the race, completing the entire 321-mile desert race from behind the wheel of the 800 horsepower Kroyer powered Trophy Truck. Handling the co-driver duties throughout the entire race was Scott’s daughter, Jessica McMillin.

The father/daughter racing duo started the race 18th off the line and ran a strategic race from start to finish. Team manager Greg Williams explained, “The first half of the race course was like “follow the leader” in the heavy dust conditions. Scott ran a great pace early and then began to pick off the competition in order to stay near the front of the pack. At race mile 149, the crew performed a 30-second pit stop where they replaced the two rear BFGoodrich Tires and splashed race gas and that was it. The Geiser truck powered by Kroyer Racing Engines was fantastic all day long. We did a light prep this truck after the Vegas to Reno 1000-mile race. It was great then and was great all day today.”

Enduring the physical and mental fatigue is only one aspect of off road desert racing. In this race, Scott and Jessica came upon the leader of the race who was pulled over off the racecourse and his brand new truck was engulfed in flames. Voss Motorsports took delivery of their new Trophy Truck a couple weeks prior.

The #31 McMillin Realty race truck stopped in order for the Voss driver and co-driver to remove the fire extinguishers off of Scott’s truck to help with extinguishing the flames.

“It’s disheartening to see that happen to any team and we did what we could given the circumstances. I’m glad no one was injured,” said McMillin.

Scott refocused on the race at hand and held the throttle of his #31 McMillin Realty truck wide open, as he railed the last 100-miles towards the finish line.

At the finish line Scott commented, “The truck ran flawlessly and we didn’t have a single flat all day long. These BFGoodrich tires really got the job done. We ran in heavy dust in the first half of the race. After our pit at race mile 149, we got into a good rhythm and brought it in. Congratulations to Jesse Jones as he drove a great race. From pit crews to the chase teams, the entire McMillin Race team put in a great effort today. We’re in a good position heading into the last race of the season.”

Jessica McMillin will change gears and move from the right seat of the McMillin Realty Trophy Truck to the driver’s seat of the Mango Racing Pro Truck where she will share driving duties with Chelsea Magness at next weekend’s CODE race. The CODE race is slated to kick off on Saturday, October 3, 2009, outside Mexicali, Mexico. The following weekend, she will race in the legendary Powder Puff race held in Barstow, California on October 10, 2009 and will also share driving duties with race partner, Chelsea Magness.

America’s legendary off road racing family will return to the ranks of Trophy Truck racing at this year’s SCORE Baja 1000 to be held on November 21, 2009 in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. This race will cover over 1000-kilometers throughout the northern Baja Peninsula desert as an international contingent of desert racers head to Mexico for this challenging experience.
