Daniel McMillin Claims VICTORY at SCORE San Felipe Challenge of Champions

Friends, this past Saturday, we raced in San Felipe. It was the SCORE Primm race that was moved to San Felipe.

The SCORE, San Felipe Challenge of Champions started Saturday morning at 7am and was the same rough course that we all raced in March. It was 252 miles of bumps.

Daniel split the driving of the JIMCO Class one car with Chuck Hovey. Chuck Hovey started the race with Jimmy Shannon riding and had a good run to McMillin Pit 1 at RM 101. With a quick pit stop, Daniel took over the driving and Casey King took over the riding. No flats all day thanks to BFGoodrich. Chuck started in the 10th position at the green flag. He gave the car to Daniel 4th physically. Daniel took the car to second position half way thru his 150 miles, chasing Harley Letner, by 1 minute most of the day. Letner started out 7th, so we had him on time. He pulled over for something and Daniel was able to take the physical lead and win the Class One race by 5 minutes. Their time was 4 hours and 29 minutes and that was good for 4th Overall. Dan’s first big Class one win and Chuck’s first win in San Felipe. Good job.

Luke’s 1600 car had a little tougher day. Being the points leader up to this race, that’s the reason we were here. We want to win the 1600 points championship back to back. Justin “BEAN” Smith started the car with his friend Brian riding. It was only RM 14 and we had a broken left inner CV. Chase trucks in motion and we were able to get the car back on the road in over an hour. It was difficult to get to. They got the car to Luke and Nic Rivaldi at RM 101 and from there the goal was just to finish. It was all good until RM 164 and another broken CV on the same side. We have some investigating to do. Chase trucks in motion and the car was back on the road after another hour fix. Luke finished in 8 hours and 32 minutes and is still leading the points chase for 1600 class.

Jessica McMillin, with some help from Scott and Andy, finished their Pro Truck and won the class. They had no problems.

Thanks to everyone who helped us prerun two weeks ago and who helped us this past 3 days at the races and in our shops.

Our next race is SCORE’s Baja 1000. It’s a loop race this year in and out of Ensenada. Race Day is Friday, November 18th.

Thanks and have a great week, Mark.
